After twelve years in active duty, he was at a crossroads, deciding between re-enlisting or entering the private sector. His discovery of Offensive-Security.com (now OffSec.com) marked a pivotal moment, inspiring him to enroll in the Penetration Testing with BackTrack course to pursue a career in penetration testing. 

 After obtaining his OSCP certification, Weathers moved into government contracting and later joined Fishnet Security, which merged with Accuvant to form Optiv. During his decade-long tenure at Optiv, he progressed from an individual contributor to a practice director but felt the need for new challenges. "Seeking growth, I joined Echelon Risk and Cyber, aligning with their values and vision," Weathers explains.
